Description:
At Thrillist, I had the privilege of art directing the "Getting Weird In" series, a captivating travel show that delved into the quirky and unconventional side of various cities. For the New Orleans edition, I conceptualized a visual style inspired by tarot cards, using their imagery to guide viewers through the city's vibrant culture and hidden gems. This concept proved successful and was carried forward to other episodes, including those set in San Diego. The Lucha Libre episode was a particular highlight, allowing me to blend my passion for animation with dynamic visuals that captured the energy and excitement of the sport.
The "Getting Weird In" series was a collaborative effort, and I worked closely with the production team to ensure the graphics and animations seamlessly integrated with the live-action footage. I developed a consistent visual language for the series, creating a cohesive and engaging viewing experience across multiple episodes. By utilizing motion graphics and animation, I was able to highlight key locations, activities, and cultural elements of each city, adding depth and dimension to the storytelling. The positive reception from the audience underscored the success of the series, demonstrating the power of visual storytelling in capturing the essence of a place.
